"This is where I grew up, why I am who I am today."
OHHS alumna/country music rising star Grace Aufderbeck visits music classes.
The popular country singer/songwriter, who goes by Gracie Carol professionally, stopped by to talk to Amy Thompson's music classes -- a class Grace was enrolled in 10 years ago. She shared the path that's taken her to rising fame in Nashville and encouraged students to pursue their dreams in whatever field they choose -- and to take an opportunity when it presents itself.
"(Country music star) Keith Urban was coming to Riverbend and he was looking for a girl singer to sing with him for one of his songs," Grace told the students. "I realized I could be that girl, and I could take that chance. I sent in a video and the next day Keith Urban called and said he wanted me to sing with him. You never get those cool chances unless you go for it."
Listen here as Grace and current OHHS students sing the Oak Hills alma mater.
