Senior Madeline Seibert named National Merit Semifinalist
Posted on: September 23, 2022
OHHS senior excels in academics and the arts
Madeline is one of 16,000 American high school students achieving the high distinction out of an estimated 2 million students taking the PSAT qualifying exam. Achieving National Merit status is one of the highest honors a high school senior can achieve. Madeline now moves on in competition to be named a National Merit Finalist and to compete for nearly $28 million in National Merit scholarships.
A National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society member with a 4.0 GPA, Madeline has also pursued personal and artistic interests outside the classroom. She has studied piano for the last 10 years and taken ballet since she was three. At 17, she began teaching ballet classes at the studio where she had studied – planning her own classes, arranging her own choreography and communicating with her students’ parents. She says ballet taught her discipline that carried over into her academic work, and teaching it taught her organizational skills and left her with the poise and confidence to communicate well with others, from her young dancers to their parents.
Beyond her academic and artistic success, Madeline stands out for her maturity and wisdom. Despite a packed schedule of challenging classes and activities, the senior prioritizes time with friends and family and personal wellness.
All of us in Oak Hills Local Schools congratulate Madeline on her National Merit recognition and wish her great success and fulfillment in the future!
