The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an honorary organization that recognizes outstanding middle school students. NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. At Rapid Run, we are members of the Maria Longworth Nichols Storer chapter.
In order to obtain membership, 6th and 7th grade students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher will be invited to apply in the spring. In order to apply, students will need to maintain a GPA of 3.75 and above, complete an online information and service form, have three teachers complete recommendations, and write an essay. Based on the final application scores, the top applicants will be selected - completion of this process does NOT ensure membership. Induction for new members will be held in May and their membership will be valid the next year.
Once inducted, members must maintain a 3.75 or higher cumulative GPA and must complete at least 30 community service hours (minimum of 10 hours for Oak Hills). Along with these individual hours, members will meet monthly and complete community service at each meeting.
