Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Andrew Stakauskas Boys' Swimming Sr.
Andrew has achieved many accomplishments through his High School career. At Best of the West, Andrew was a member of the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay that both placed first. He won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 21.75 and, also, the 100 Butterfly setting a new meet record with a time of 52.01. We look forward to Andrew continuing to make a huge impact during his final season.
Averie Thomas Girls' Swimming Jr.
Averie is an extremely dedicated and hard working student-athlete that is a true asset to the swim team. At Best of the West she was a member of 2 Relays that finished in 3rd place. She competed in the 500 Freestyle and finished 2nd with a time of 6:09.00 and placed 3rd in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:13.74. Averie achieved best times for this season and is not far off of her Personal Best times. She looks to surpass those and achieve great success this season!
Chazz Tallarigo Boys Wrestling Soph
Chazz Tallarigo won the 106 lb weight class at the 49th annual Edgewood Invitational. On the day he went 4-0 racking up 2 falls and 2 major decisions. He defeated the number 4 rank guy in the state on his way to the title.
Bobby Stidham Boys' Basketball Sr
Bobby, a 3 year varsity starter and captain this year, contributed 27 points (12-16 from the field), 6 rebounds and 2 assists in 2 games this past week. He is a multi-sport athlete who had an excellent football season as an offensive lineman. He has been an excellent leader in both sports and is in the HVAC program at Diamond Oaks Vocational School.
Rhianna Riep Girls' Basketball Soph
Rhianna made her first career Varsity start this past Saturday at Sycamore. She had a team high 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals! Rhianna holds a 3.6 GPA while taking multiple honors classes.
Ella Weinmann Girls' Bowling Soph
Ella is currently leading the Varsity A girls bowling team not only in average, with a 169.4, but in high game as well with a 216, and is ranked 5th in the GMC. That high game was part of her outstanding 428 series rolled this past week in the match against Hamilton at Western Bowl; that series is currently the highest in the GMC. In practice this past week, Ella also rolled her new personal best high game of 279!
Ava Kellerman Girls' Bowling Soph
Last week, Ava had a great week on the lanes! In the match with Newton, Ava led the Varsity B team to victory with her new high series of 324 as well as rolling her new personal best high game an outstanding 196! That series and game are currently the highest for the Varsity B team. In just her second year on the bowling team, Ava is making great strides and is becoming a leader.
Jason Eby Boys' Bowling Soph
Jason has been a leader on the junior varsity this season. Over the summer he put the work in and has improved greatly, bringing up his average over 50 pins. Jason rolled a 391 series against the boys win over the Mason Comets, and he also had the teams high series in the Jingle Bell Bash helping the team finish top 4.
