Posted on: November 28, 2023 2:00 pm
Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Preston Banzhaf Boys Wrestling Soph
Though we have not had a competition yet, Preston has not missed one preseason/ regular season workout. He is one of the hardest workers in the room but in the classroom as well. He currently has 6 A's with 2 AP classes and 3 honors classes! He is a great representative of our program.
Max Supe Boys Basketball Jr
Max is a multiple sport athlete. During football he played many roles- punter, returner, quarterback, receiver, defensive back- and unfortunately a late season injury ended his junior year. His contribution to any team extends far beyond his active play. His leadership, character and academic success contribute to his team as well. Again, the injury has ended his junior basketball season but Max has been at every practice, every team activity contributing in any way possible. He leads in practice, clips "winning plays" from our video, and contributes to classroom activities. He is an excellent role model for all student-athletes. He is a member of student leaders (SALT) and works a part-time job in his spare time. His academic GPA is over a 4.0, and ranks in the top 10% of his class.
Chloe Seery Girls' Swimming Fr
Chloe has worked extremely hard in the pre-season. She will positively contribute to our team this season. She not only works hard in her swimming activities, Chloe is an excellent student with a 3.77 GPA.
Ayva Moore Girls' Basketball Jr
Ayva came off the bench in our season-opening win over Mercy-McAuley and had a team-high 7 points, 4 steals, and 3 assists, to go along with 5 rebounds. Ayva is a standout multi-sport athlete, who carries a 4.0 GPA, while taking multiple AP classes!
Sam Korn Boys' Basketball Jr
Sam worked extremely hard during the pre-season to not only help the team but to improve his own skills. As he continues to develop his self-confidence, he will continue to improve and to expand his game. Sam contributes to our program in many other ways as a leader and a high-character young man. He carries a 4.0 GPA with an AP and Honors level schedule. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.
