Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Avery King Girls' Bowling Sr
Avery King has been an incredible leader for the past 4 years on the Girls Bowling Team. This 4-year Varsity bowler has had 3 All-Tournament Team appearances this season, and is wrapping up the year as the 8th highest average in the GMC; she is also the only advancer from Oak Hills to head to the District Tournament on March 3rd. Avery punched her ticket to Districts rolling a series of 443 on a very tough oil pattern, leading the team to a 9th place finish.
Wyatt Ferguson Wrestling Sr
Wyatt won a Sectional Title this weekend. He pinned all of his opponents in the first period with a total mat time of 2 minutes and 20 seconds. He will wrestle in the District tournament at Kettering Fairmont this Friday and Saturday.
Jaxon Schreiber Boys' Basketball Sr
Special thanks to senior captain Jaxon Schreiber who has provided leadership and mentoring for our younger student-athletes. He is a rare 3 sport athlete as well as an excellent student, and more important, an outstanding young man. He is also the first student-athlete to receive All-GMC Honors, either first or second team for 3 years in a row in Boys' Basketball. He will continue his college and athletic career in football at Mt. St. Joseph University.
Kyle Toon Boys' Basketball Sr
Special thanks to senior captain Kyle Toon who has provided leadership and mentoring for our younger student-athletes. He was a rare 3 sport athlete for 3 of his 4 years as well as an excellent student, and more important, an outstanding young man. He exemplifies the definition of a great teammate, and has excelled in his chosen field of Culinary Arts at Diamond Oaks. He will continue his college and athletic career in football at Mt. St. Joseph University.
Steven Sanders Boys' Basketball Sr
Special thanks to senior Steven Sanders who has provided leadership and mentoring for our younger student-athletes. He is a rare 3 sport athlete, is a good student, and more important, an outstanding young man. Steven provided energy and enthusiasm for our team this year, helping the team improve as they prepared for each game. He wants to continue his college and athletic career in football, but is still undecided as to which school.
Noah Asman Boys' Swimming Sr
Noah is a 4 Year Varsity Swimmer that is involved in numerous activities and clubs at Oak Hills. He is the Senior Captain of the boys team and is a wonderful role model and teammate. Noah qualified for this year’s State Swim Meet in the 50 Free with a time of 47.80. This past weekend he competed in Canton and finished 29th in the State! All of his athletic accomplishments have come while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.
Petal Sloan Girl's Swimming Sr
Petal is a 4 Year Varsity swimmer with many accomplishments during her career. She is dedicated to her teammates, training, and academics as she has a 3.61 GPA. Petal achieved her highest achievement as she qualified to State in the 50 Freestyle in 30th. This past weekend she competed in Canton and finished 13th in the State! Congratulations to Petal on a strong finish to her career!
