Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Trenton Murphy Boys Basketball Jr
During the 2 games this past week, Trenton scored 27 points and had 13 rebounds. Trenton is a multi-sport athlete (Basketball, Baseball), a member of National Honor Society, and has earned a 4.0 GPA in an Honors and AP course schedule.
Ava Kammerer Girls' Basketball Fr
Ava, a freshman guard, has been one of the team's most consistent players in her first year on varsity. She leads the team in scoring averaging 10.8 ppg and is third in rebounds with a 3.1 average. She also leads the team with 12 three-point goals on the season. She scored game-high 10 points to go along with 3 assists and 3 rebounds in a loss to the GMC leading Lakota East and led the team in scoring with 7 points in a loss to Princeton.
Andre Sye Boys' Wrestling Sr
Andre was able to navigate his way through a tough 120lb bracket at the SWOWCA Glenn Sample Coaches Classic wrestling tournament. He finished in 8th place. This is an impressive feat for a second year wrestler. He will be looking to continue this success next week at the GMVWA Holiday Tournament on December 27th and 28th.
Layla Maness Girls' Bowling Soph
Layla joined the Girls Bowling team just this year, but is already making a big impact. She currently is the leader of the JV team, averaging 127.44 per game. Last week, Layla led the JV team in their match with Fairfield with a series of 296, averaging almost 150 per game! She then led the team at the Jingle Bell JV Bash over the weekend, averaging 122 per game, and helping the team finish in 11th place overall.
