Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

 
Katie Mitchell Girls' Soccer Jr
Katie, a Junior for the Highlanders, helped the team secure a big GMC road win this past week. She scored the game winning goal for the Highlanders, as they defeated Lakota East 2-1. Katie has helped the Highlanders in the midfield and up top, as the team starts the season 4-0.   
 
Will Sweet                 Boys' Soccer           Sr
Will was the foundation of our defense in a 2-1 win over Turpin and 1-0 loss at Lakota East last week. He is a senior Captain, who changed positions from midfield to center back and has played consistently well after the transition.
 
Jordan Brogan Boys' Soccer Sr
Jordan opened the scoring with a headball goal in our 2-1 victory over Turpin. He is a constant threat to opposing teams and attracts the attention of their defense. Jordan is a 4 year varsity player and has a 3.64 GPA.
 
Eva Hensley Girls' Cross Country Jr
Eva helped her team win the Lebanon invitational beating 18 other teams by placing 3rd out of 254 runners. Her time of 19:24 ranks her #5 in the GMC. Eva is a two time state qualifier in Cross Country as well as qualifying for state in the 3200 meters last track season.   
 
Eric Dew      Boys' Cross Country       Soph
Eric has stepped up this year to become one of the guys we will rely on all season as a top 5 finisher for the Highlanders. His work ethic and consistency at practice are great assets to our team.
 
Ethan Grady Football Jr
Ethan recorded his first 2 receptions of the season- 1 for 38 yards and 1 for 25 yards. Those 2 receptions extended Highlander drives.
 
Owen McChristian Football Jr
Owen, a defensive back, had 6 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles, and 2 pass deflections in Friday night's game vs. Mason.
 
Sophia Cresci               Girls' Tennis            Sr
Sophia earned her first two career varsity wins this past week. She defeated Princeton and Hamilton with different partners. Outside of tennis, Sophia has a 3.7 GPA while working three jobs. After high school Sophia wants to become a welder.
