Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Posted on: May 10, 2022 8:00 am
Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Brayden Holland Boys' Track Soph
Brayden is one of the guys who carries the team on his shoulders. As one of our top 400m and 800m runners, he leads by example by always giving 100% effort no matter what the circumstances are. In only his sophomore year, Brayden has the potential to be one of the best runners Oak Hills has ever had. Brayden is a multi-sport athlete- Boys' Basketball, Boys' Track and Boys' Cross Country- who also carries a 4.0 GPA.
Riley Williams Girls' Track Soph
Riley has established herself as a well rounded sprinter who can race at just about any distance. She is one of the key members of our sprint relays and is only getting faster. To add to her resume, she hopped into the 800 and 1600 at Saturday's home meet and ran respectable times with absolutely no training in those events.
Abby Bode Softball Jr
Abby Bode had her hottest week yet going 12/14 (.857) last week in our 4 game series helping the Highlanders bring home 4 more league wins. Abby has been a constant force all season hitting .600 (.635 in the GMC). Abby excels not only on the softball field but in the classroom as well. Abby has a 4.0 and is a member of NHS.
Tyler Weller Boys' Volleyball Sr
Tyler recorded 33 kills (19 against Hamilton - his career and team high this season), 4 aces, 7 blocks, 16 digs, and 79 pass points last week in our Hamilton, Fairmont, and Loveland matches. He goes into the last week of the season 4th overall in kills in the GMC.
Michael McClurg Boys' Tennis Sr
Senior Captain, Michael McClurg, went 5-2 this past week that included wins over Lakota East and Sycamore "B." At the GMC tournament Michael and his doubles partner, Paul Nienaber, earned a 3rd place finish after defeating Lakota West and Lakota East. In addition to tennis Michael has a 4.0 GPA while taking AP classes and is a member of NHS. After high school Michael plans on going to UC.
