Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

Annabelle Hageman         Girls' Track      Fr
Annabelle is having a great freshman season. She was a part of the winning 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams at the Ross Invitational. She placed 3rd in the 300 hurdles. She ran a personal best time in both the 400 and the 300 hurdles and ran a great lead-off leg in the 4x800 relay.

Julien Cox Boys' Track Jr
Julien has been having an incredible first season as a track & field athlete. He is one of our top athletes in all three sprinting distances: 100m, 200m, and 400m. Julien has become one of the key members of our 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.

Sydney Dance              Softball         Jr
Syd put her time in until her opportunity presented itself this season. She took advantage of her recent opportunity going 15/26 (.577) collecting 9 RBIs and a triple. Syd has put the work in all season as a new member of the varsity squad and her efforts have paid off. Syd is not only a standout on the softball field but in the classroom as well. She is a member of NHS and has a 4.0 GPA. Congrats, Syd!

Sam Zimmerly               Baseball         Jr
Sam had a very good week at the plate for Highlanders going 5 for 14 with 4 RBI. For the season, he is batting .327 and leads the team with 16 RBI. Sam has also adjusted well to playing a new position on the infield.

Nate Reichling Boys' Lacrosse Sr
Nate has had a great senior season. Last week he scored the game winning goal in overtime vs Lakota East. He is also currently second in the GMC in goals with 37.

Paul Nienaber            Boys' Tennis        Jr
Paul had a solid week as he picked up wins over Fairfield and Walnut Hills. Paul is currently 9-4 on the season and has put himself in great position as we enter the stretch run of the season. In addition to tennis, Paul helps fundraise for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. After high school, Paul wants to go to college to pursue a degree in the sports management field.
