Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Alex Taft         Boys' Cross Country        Jr
Alex showed a tremendous amount of resilience in his performance on Saturday at the Lebanon Invitational. After being severely hampered by a nagging injury in his opening race last weekend, he bounced back without showing any signs of hesitation. He was 4th for the Highlanders, helping his team to a 3rd place finish.
 
Molli Malone Girls' Tennis Sr
Molli went 2-1 this past week with wins over Colerain and Princeton to push her overall record to 8-5. Molli won her first career singles match after playing in 47 doubles matches. She won her singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Colerain. Molli carries a 3.9 GPA and is a member of NHS as well as Key Club. Molli is currently in school to get her pilot's license and plans on attending college after high school.   
 
Sophia Kuerze        Girls' Soccer            Jr
Sophia, a Junior Captain, scored a big goal against Lakota East and saved one off the goal line against Seton this week. Sophia played forward Thursday night and then played center back Saturday night as she helped the Highlanders earn a shutout draw vs. Seton. Sophia is currently tied for 1st in the GMC with Goals Scored.
 
Riley Broughton Volleyball Sr
During this week's matches, Riley dished out 89 assists and had 34 digs. She is the quarterback of our team! Riley is currently sitting at the top of GMC for assists and digs. She was all 1st team GMC and 2nd team All-City in the 2020 season. Riley carries a 4.0 GPA and is also involved in Student Council Amd Key Club. She has aspirations to be an optometrist.  
 
Jordan Brogan                   Boys' Soccer           Jr
Jordan netted his first goal of the season, leading off the scoring for Oak Hills in a 2-1 victory over Elder on Saturday night. As a sophomore, Jordan was fourth in scoring for Oak Hills with 4 goals and 3 assists. Jordan is a 3-year varsity player and has a 3.7 GPA.
 
Riley Williams Girls' Cross Country Soph
Riley is one of the most improved athletes of this season. She is a natural sprinter but has dedicated herself this summer to improve her endurance. She is an incredibly hard worker who comes to practice every day with a positive attitude. Riley has a 4.0 GPA.
