Posted on: April 27, 2021 1:00 pm
Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Abby Bode Softball Soph
Abby Bode is a vital part of the Highlander's successful season. Abby went 10-14 (.714) swiping 6 stolen bases throughout the week. She hit a perfect 5/5 against Kings and had key offensive and defensive plays in the extra innings loss to Mason. Abby is a standout both on and off the field. She is a top student in the classroom and was just inducted in the National Honor Society.
Megan John Girls' Track Sr
Megan has done everything in her power to make her senior year into her best year yet. Most recently, her performance in the 1600m at the Lakota East invite, which earned her 3rd place, was very inspiring. She has been a dominant force in distance running for the past 4 years, however this race stands out as one of her best ever.
Robert Hart Boys' Track Jr
In the wind and rain at the Lakota East invite, Robert leapt to a 2nd place finish in long jump and a 1st place finish in high jump. Saturday was only his first time long jumping. His high jump clearance of 6'4" sets him as one of the top jumpers in the area so far this season.
Jack Hoeting Boys' Tennis Jr
Jack had another great week of tennis. He picked up singles wins over Fairfield and Mariemont, as well as a doubles win over Middletown. Overall, Jack is now 13-4 on the season. In addition to tennis, Jack takes AP classes and plans to go to college for music production or computer science.
Johnathon Vanover Boys' Lacrosse Sr
Johnathon played great defense in the 12-6 win over Wyoming and had multiple ground balls for the game. Johnathan is a senior leader for the Highlanders and will continue playing lacrosse at the collegiate level next year at The University of the Cumberlands.
