Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Danny Flanigan           Baseball              Sr.
Danny Flanigan was just elected as one of the team Captains by his peers. Danny has been a model of consistency for the baseball program in all phases. Danny has taken his work ethic and commitment to daily excellence to new levels. His commitment to the weight room, his daily effort in practice, and his constant pursuit to improve have made not only him better, but everyone around him better as well. Danny is set to have a huge spring.

Abby Bode Softball Soph
Although being twins doesn’t necessarily make them one nomination. Individually the twins are a strong force, but together their leadership and field production make them unified co-leaders. Ab and Nik have been an offensive and defensive threat for the Highlanders. Both girls hit a combined .708 during the 4 game scrimmage set, collecting 5 home runs between the two of them. Abby and Niki are top students within the classroom. They both continue to excel academically and athletically. The leadership and softball knowledge of the Bode’s will help guide the young Highlander squad team this season.

Niki Bode Softball Soph

India Woolridge          Girls' Track     Jr
India ran a great race in the 100m dash, but wiped out after crossing the line and got pretty scraped up.  A weaker athlete would have counted herself out for the rest of the meet to take care of her wounds, but India just shrugged it off.  She continued her fantastic day by running the second leg on the winning 4x100m relay and placing in the 200m dash.

Maxx Zwerin           Boys' Track         Sr
Maxx was a middle-of-the-road JV runner before COVID hit, but as a senior he has really stepped up.  He will be filling a role as a varsity sprinter this season and has become a fantastic leader.  He ran two personal bests in the 100m and 200m, ran an excellent leg on the runner-up 4x100m relay and jumped right into the 4x400m relay last minute when his team needed him.

Daniel Miller Boys' Tennis Fr
Freshman Daniel Miller picked up his first career victory over Elder this past Saturday. Daniel won the match in three sets, winning 6-2 in the third set. Daniel carries a 4.0 GPA and frequently volunteers at his church. After high school, Daniel wants to go to college to become a pharmacist.

Nate Reichling   Boys' Lacrosse   Jr
Nate has been a leader on and off the field for the lacrosse program.  He has recorded goals in both games so far this year against Edgewood and Kings.  He also has been a defensive presence in each game while at the midfield position.
