Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Max Pizzo Boys' Bowling Soph
Max lead the team against St. X with a 388 series, and also lead the team at the Cardinal Classic with a 444 series. Max currently holds the second-best average on the team with a 183.9 average.
Connor Littelmann Boys' Bowling Jr
Connor holds the third-best average on the boys' team with a 175 average. He also rolled a 368 series against St. X and had the second-highest team series at the Cardinal Classic with a 437 series.
Alex Zagorianos Boys' Swimming Sr
Alex is our senior captain, top 100 breaststroker, and 200 IM swimmer. He is also a key member of our GMC and state tournament relay swimmer. He already shares the team record in the 400 free relay, and with his teammates, plans on taking down another.
Sammie Gerde Girls' Swimming Sr
Sammie is our senior team captain, top 100 breaststroker and 50 free swimmer. This is her 4th year as a key member of our GMC and sectional lineup for the girls team. Along with her individual scores, Sammie is an important part of the relays that plan on posting their best place in the GMC's in years.
Brooke Watkins Girls' Swimming Jr
Brooke is a second-year swimmer that has improved tremendously from her first days in practice last year. She has raised her performance so much that she has now acquired a position in our GMC and sectional line up. As a student, she is a great example of a 'student-athlete" for the rest of the team.
Patrick Thibodeaux Boys' Swimming Sr
Patrick is a four-year varsity swimmer. He has quietly taken on whatever the team needs him to do. In his four years, he has established himself as a 500 and 200 freestyler and, once again Patrick will play a large role in our GMC tournament.
Emma Miller Girls' Basketball Sr
Emma, a senior captain, scored a game-high 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and had 3 steals in a loss to Colerain and then scored 6 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 steals in a loss to Princeton. Emma is also an outstanding student with a GPA of 3.89.
Sam Weidner Boys' Basketball Jr
As a junior starter, Sam's stats do not tell the story about Sam's value to our team. Sam is extremely coachable, serves as a role model for our younger players by consistently volunteering for community service, earning great grades, putting in extra time by shooting in the mornings. Sam is not only an enthusiastic, unselfish teammate, and an excellent student, he also is a multi-sport athlete playing basketball and baseball.
