Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlander athletes who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Owen Pelzer Sr. Boys' Swimming
Owen is a 3-time state qualifier and will be competing at the state meet in two individuals and 2 relays. He holds the team record for 100 butterfly and this weekend at districts was on the 400 free relay team that broke the team record, set 31 years ago.
Gavin Schulze Sr. Boys' Swimming
Gavin finished 5th in the 50 free, 10th in the 100 free, and was on the 6th place medley relay and 400 free relays at districts. With his great swims at districts, Gavin has qualified for state in the 50 free and both medley and 400 free relays. He is a part of the 400 free relay team that broke the team record, set 31 years ago.
Cade Grimmett Jr. Boys' Swimming
As a district qualifier in two individuals and two relays, Cade finished 15th in the 100 butterfly and 21st in the 100 backstroke. He will be swimming at the state meet for both relays, and this weekend at districts was on the 400 free relay team that broke the team record, set 31 years ago.
Mason Bencurik Soph Boys' Swimming
At the district meet, Mason set personal bests in his two individual events, finishing 16th in the 200 free and 19th in the 100 free. Mason will be competing at the state meet in the 400 free relay and this weekend at districts was on the 400 free relay team that broke the team record, set 31 years ago.
Alex Zagorianos Jr. Boys' Swimming
Alex qualified to districts in all of his events where he finished 23rd in the individual medley and 26th in the 100 breaststroke. He also is a part of the state qualifying medley relay that was 7 one-hundredths from the team record.
Joey Obert Jr Boys' Swimming
Joey is an honors student-athlete. He qualified for the district swim meet in individual events. 50 free and 100 freestyle and was a part of the 200 free relay. He will be representing Oak Hills Swim Team as an alternate to both of the state-qualifying relays.
Sam Burns Soph Wrestling
Sam had a great week of competition. He went 3-0. Two wins by pin! Sam has shown tremendous growth and we are looking forward to his efforts in the upcoming years.
Jameson Richmond Soph Boys' Basketball
Jameson recently returned to playing time for the first time this season this past weekend at Hamilton. Jameson returned from a hand injury requiring surgery before the season started. Jameson is a multi-sport athlete, performs community service, and has earned a 3.3 GPA.
Damon Stock Jr. Boys' Basketball
Damon has recently returned from a shoulder injury. He played some valuable JV minutes to help him return to physical shape. He has contributed greatly to varsity practices as well. Damon is a multi-sport athlete, performs community service, and has earned a 3.4 GPA.
Ryan Dew Jr. Boys' Basketball
Ryan has recently returned from double hernia surgery. He played some valuable JV minutes to help him return to physical shape. He has contributed greatly to varsity practices as well. Ryan performs community service and has earned a 3.4 GPA.
