Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week
Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
 
Gabe Cox                      Boys' Basketball                            Sr.
Gabe is a senior captain who provides the team with great leadership through his toughness and competitiveness. Gabe's value does not always show up in the stat sheet but his ability to defend inside, rebound, screen and finish around the rim has helped the Highlanders earn some recent wins. Gabe is a 2 sport athlete (excellent pitcher) and ranks in the Top 10% of his class. He is also a member of National Honor Society and S.A.L.T. (Student Athlete Leadership Team). 
 
Mary Bacon             Girls' Bowling                       Fr.
Freshman Mary Bacon had a statement making night in our match at Lakota West on February 6th. Not only did she roll her first 200 game ever, she rolled 2- 200 games! A fantastic 200 and 210 for a team leading series of 410 for the night! Mary's outstanding performance led the Lady Highlanders to remain undefeated in the GMC! Mary's hard work and determination has pushed her into the top 25 in the GMC.
 
Abby Huber                      Girls' Swimming                        Fr.
Abby is a Freshman on the Swim Team and has had a very successful first year.  This weekend at the Powel Crosley Sectionals, she placed 6th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.86 and 1st in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:02.32.  Abby has qualified to participate at the District meet next weekend at Miami University in the 100 Backstroke, 200 Medley Relay, and the 400 Freestyle Relay.  Great job, Abby, and Good Luck!
 
August Foland                        Boy's Swimming                       Jr.
August is a Junior on the Swim Team and has been working hard all season to accomplish his goals.  This weekend at St. X Sectionals, August recorded his best by dropping 5 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:12.66.  He also qualified 32nd to compete at Districts next weekend in the 100 Backstroke.  August is a member of the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay that will be swimming at Districts at Miami University.  Congratulations and Good Luck, August!
 
Lucas Phillips                             Academic Team                 Fr.
Luke has done a great job this season!  He is the only freshman on the team, yet has been a consistent contributor for our JV team all season.  Luke has a bright future with the Academic Quiz Team!
 
Ayva Moore    Girls' Basketball    Sr
Ayva scored a career high 13 points and a career high 5 steals this week vs Sycamore.  Ayva, who also starred on the soccer field, has been an outstanding leader and role model for every girl in our program.
