Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Wil Kraus Boys' Basketball Jr.
Wil is a multi-sport athlete (Baseball / Basketball) who is a tremendous competitor. He contributes to his team in so many ways- rebounding, tough defense, ball handling, scoring when opportunities present themselves, and leadership. He exhibits positive character traits that also show team-first mentality. Wil participates in FCA, SALT (Student Leadership) and various other community service activities while earning a 4.42 GPA.
Jason Wiechman Boys' Wrestling Soph
Jason took first place at the Ryle JV tournament; this is Jason's second year of wrestling.
Liliana Anderson Girls' Wrestling Jr.
Liliana Anderson, won the Hammer and Anvil invitational. 2-0 at our Home scramble. Currently undefeated at 6-0.
Leah Maly Girls' Bowling Soph
Sophomore Leah Maly is making a big impact in her first year as a member of the Varsity B girls bowling team! This past week, Leah helped lead the team to 2 wins over Mercy McAuley and Mount Notre Dame. In the match with MND, Leah rolled a series of 299, her current highest series of the season, for an average of 149.5 pins per game! Leah currently leads the Varsity B squad with an overall average of 123.1 pins per game.
Logan Schemenaur Academic Team Soph
Logan has had a great preseason. He consistently brings a lot of positive energy to practice, making it fun for his coaches and teammates!
Evelynn Dann Girls' Swimming Jr.
Evelyn is a Junior on the Swim Team and last week was her first week competing in the Best of the West Meet. She swam the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke where she earned best times in both events. Evelyn has a great work ethic and is dedicated to the sport. Great job and good luck the rest of the season!
Austin Haarmeyer Boys' Swimming Soph
Austin is a Sophomore on the Boy's Swim Team and has been extremely dedicated to working out in and out of the pool. Last week he competed in the Best of the West meet and achieved personal best times in the 50 Free (25.50) and the 500 Freestyle. Way to go, Austin!! We look forward to seeing what you do the rest of the season!
Ava Kammerer Girls' Basketball Jr.
Ava scored 64 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had 6 assists in three games for the Lady Scots this week, including 22 points in a win over westside rival Seton. Ava is the ultimate competitor and leader for our team over the last three years. She is a 2-time All-GMC performer in basketball and was 1st-Team All-GMC in soccer this season. In the classroom, Ava has a 4.77 GPA and is ranked 15th in the junior class, while taking multiple honors and AP level classes!
