Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Gabe Cox Boys' Basketball Sr.
Gabe is a senior captain and a multi-sport athlete (Baseball/Basketball). He is a selfless athlete as he prioritizes his defense and rebounding first over and above any other basketball skills. He has provided some strong leadership and work ethic as our season started. He volunteers to serve community service, and he earned a 4.84 GPA and ranks in the top 2% of his class.
Gabe Purdin Chess Sr.
Gabe Purdin finished second team all GMC and went 3-2 at the GMC second round. His senior leadership helped guide Highlander chess to a fourth place finish on the season.
Tanner Iles Boys' Bowling Sr.
Tanner is currently in the top 5 bowlers in the GMC with a 210+ average. He has helped lead the team this season to a 3-0 record, and this past weekend he finished 2nd overall to earn All Tournament team at the Holiday Classic.
John Teal Boys' Bowling Soph
In John's first season on the bowling team he has excelled at every match so far posting either the highest or second highest 2 game total, which has helped keep the Junior Varsity team undefeated. John continues to put in the work to get better every time he is on the lanes.
Catherine Glogowski Academic Soph
Catherine Glogowski is returning for her second season on the Academic Quiz Team. She has done a great job of preparing for the upcoming season, being a leader and working hard to improve our team!
Maria Barr Girls' Bowling Sr.
Maria has had a good start to her Senior year as a member of the Varsity B girls Bowling team. This past week, Maria averaged 123.2 pins per game, more than 5 pins higher per game than her ending average for the 2023-2024 season. At the Holiday Classic tournament over the weekend, Maria led the Varsity B girls with a series of 337. Maria currently holds the 2nd highest average on the team.
Kacey Brigger Girls' Swimming Fr.
Kacey is a Freshman on the Swim Team and is looking to improve her stroke techniques and her personal times, as well. She competed in her first two high school meets, this week, and already achieved her best times in the 50 and 100 Freestyle since Middle School. We can't wait to see how much she will continue to improve throughout the season!
Austin Haarmeyer Boys' Swimming Soph
Austin is a Sophomore on the swim team and we are so happy to have him back! He is a wonderful asset to the team as he is more than willing to do whatever is asked of him. Austin doesn't hesitate to volunteer to swim events he may not normally compete in which makes him a true team player. He swam in his first two meets of the season, last week, and helped the boys to two wins against LaSalle and Colerain. Austin will be competing this week at Best of the West and hopes to swim fast!
Harper Kollstedt Cheerleading Fr.
Harper was a star performer at our competition this past weekend helping her team earn 1st place! She has worked hard to apply corrections and shines on the competition mat. In addition to being a member of our Varsity Game Day competition team, Harper is also a member of our freshman football and basketball squads.
Riley Philpot Girls' Basketball Sr
Riley scored team high 12 points on a perfect 4-4 shooting in a 49-40 comeback win vs Fairfield. As a two time team captain, Riley has grown into a tremendous leader in our program and school. She also takes multiple CCP classes and will graduate with almost 30 college credits.
