Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Kaitlyn Stockman Girls' Volleyball Soph
Kaitlyn made her way back to the court just in time for our last week of regular season! Kaitlyn finished the week with 21 kills, 23 digs, 3 aces and a pass average of 2.04 against Kings, Talawanda and Sycamore.
Mary Blessing Girls' Soccer Sr.
Mary, a senior midfielder, had the game-winning assist this past week at Sycamore. Mary has been a vital part of the Highlanders attack over her 4 years on Varsity. She also gets it done in the classroom by taking all AP Courses.
Layla Baker Girls' Soccer Soph.
Layla, a sophomore defender, had the game winning goal this past week at Sycamore to help the Highlanders win 1-0 on the road. Layla has been playing Centerback and has helped the Highlanders earn its 14 shutout on the season.
Averie Thomas Girls' Cross Country Sr
Averie has been an integral part of our cross-country team for the past four years. She has been a good motivator for her teammates with pre-race speeches that are both inspiring and encouraging. Averie's positivity and determination have set a high standard for everyone around her, as she is always willing to push herself and take on new challenges. In addition to her accomplishments in cross-country, Averie is a varsity swimmer as well as a member of NHS.
Norah Piegols Girls' Cross Country Sr
Norah has been a dedicated member of both the cross-country and track teams for the past four years, showing remarkable growth and improvement throughout her athletic journey. Known for her positive attitude, Norah is always willing to take on any challenge with a smile on her face. She is the kind of teammate who is not only reliable but also incredibly supportive, offering constant encouragement to those around her. She is also a member of NHS and also tutors elementary students in her free time.
Jake Swisshelm Boys' Soccer Sr.
Jake netted the game tying goal against Sycamore to make it 1-1 with just over 5 minutes left in regulation.
Bryce Korb Boys' Cross Country Jr
Bryce has consistently provided a great example for his teammates this year. Everyday, Bryce does exactly what is expected of him by giving his full effort, keeping negative comments to himself and hyping up his teammates when things get tough. Bryce has really bought into our team goals and elevates the rest of our group by staying focused on those goals. He has been in our top 7 all year and his most recent racing performances have been outstanding.
