Posted on: September 24, 2024 9:00 am
Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Matt Doherty Boys' Cross Country Sr.
Matt started running cross country as a senior this year. His zeal and eagerness to excel have been a welcomed addition to our team. Matt's hard work has paid off and he has been in the top 5 for the Highlanders for every race so far this year. The exemplary way that he carries himself has helped to shape our team.
Lindsey Curless Girls' Volleyball Jr.
Lindsey helped the Highlanders get two wins against Princeton and Wyoming with a total of 20 digs, 6 aces and a pass average of 2.2 out of 3.0. Lindsey's defense and back row presence for her team continues to get better and is a driving factor in Varsity's success this season.
Ayva Moore Girls' Soccer Sr.
Ayva scored a goal against Milford this week, and helped the Highlanders earn 2 more shutout wins vs Princeton and Milford. Ayva plays up top as well as outside back in every game. She has helped the Highlanders potent attack as well as helping the team earn its ninth shutout in just twelve games.
Annabelle Hageman Girls' Cross Country Sr.
Annabelle, a multi-sport varsity athlete, was recently voted captain of the Cross Country team. In addition to Cross Country, she competes in Track and Swimming, making her a key player across three varsity sports. At last Saturday’s meet at Princeton, Annabelle placed 7th, contributing to her team’s 1st place victory. A vital part of the varsity team for the past four seasons, Annabelle consistently brings energy and enthusiasm to practice, inspiring her teammates daily. Beyond athletics, she is also a member of SALT, Captains Council, and serves as a Class Officer, further demonstrating her leadership both on and off the field.
Nolen Miller Boys' Soccer Jr.
Nolen has been consistent playing defensive center mid, helping us record our fifth and sixth shutouts last week in a (1-0) win against Turpin and (0-0) tie at Princeton. He has consistently plugged up the middle of the field and gets us started in transition as our pivot. Nolen has a 4.2 GPA.
