Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!

Gavin Craynon            Boys' Cross Country         Soph
Gavin was 5th man for the Highlanders at the Lebanon Invitational. He has come a long way since June, working his way from the back half of our pack up to the front. Gavin has had a very challenging last couple weeks and it has been great to see that his defining characteristics have been determination and focus on his running and his team, despite all of life's distractions.

Lucy Schutte    Girls' Cross Country    Fr.
In her first three high school races, Lucy has consistently performed as the team's third runner. Despite being a freshman, she runs with the poise and skill of an experienced athlete. At the Lebanon Invitational this past weekend, she placed 20th out of 179 runners and finished as the team's third scorer, contributing to their impressive second-place finish out of 22 teams. Lucy is a determined, dedicated athlete who continuously strives to exceed expectations.

Kaitlyn Stockman           Girls' Volleyball                      Soph
Kaitlyn led our team in kills this week to help the Highlanders defeat Lakota West in 5 and Monroe in 4. Kaitlyn had 16 kills against Lakota West and 20 kills against Monroe with a pass average of 1.8 in serve receive.

Presley Pennekamp           Girls' Soccer                        Sr.
Presley had 3 goals and 3 assists this past week for the Highlanders. After starting the season injured, she is starting to catch fire for the Highlanders. She had the game winner against Lakota West to start the Highlanders 1-0 in GMC play.

Claire White          Cheerleading         Fr
Claire is a freshman member of both varsity competition squads. Stunting is new to Claire and something she was unsure of in the beginning. She has quickly become one of our most valuable backspots and continues to improve every week. Her hard work and determination in increasing her stunt and tumbling skills is paying off to benefit our teams!

Cannon Chirumbolo McKee     Boys' Soccer Sr.
Cannon had (13) saves in Oak Hills 1-0 loss to Lakota West, keeping the game close to the end. His command of the net has been outstanding this season which makes it challenging for our opponents.

Collin Wilson         Boys' Soccer                 Jr.
Collin's versatility during matches has allowed Oak Hills to transition to different formations seamlessly. When he has been assigned to our opponents most dangerous attacker, he has done a great job of closing down our opponents best option. When moving to an attacking position, he creates chances due to his high work rate.
