Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Maria Pitchford Cheerleading Jr.
Maria is a second year varsity cheerleader and is also a member of both of our competition teams. She leads with a positive attitude- always working towards gaining new skills & encouraging her teammates to be their best. Maria has supported her team by stepping up to fill in for an injured teammate and pushing herself to master new basing skills. Her positive attitude and determination helps to lead our teams to success. Outside of school, Maria works in the community promoting responsible pet ownership.
Taylor Spille Girls' Soccer Fr.
Taylor, a freshman forward, helped her team earn two big wins this past week. She had 2 game winning goals against Harrison and Centerville. She has been a huge addition to the Highlanders electric attack. Taylor also gets it done in the classroom taking all honors courses!
Spencer Kaufenberg Boys' Golf Sr.
Senior Spencer Kaufenberg shot 39 & 42 last week for the Highlanders. Spencer is a two sport athlete as he plays for the Highlanders Lacrosse team.in the spring.
Brooke Lint Girls' Tennis Jr.
Brooke Improved her record to 3-1 on the year this past week taking town Lakota West, our first GMC opponent of the year. As well as defeating Turpin in straight sets as well. Brooke is a great vocal leader on our team and we are excited to have her play second singles this year for us.
Brady Kornmann Football Jr.
Brady was 6-10 for 151 yards with 2 passing TDs in his first varsity start in a victory over Turpin. Kornmann is a three sport athlete and has a 3.25 GPA.
Jaxson Dorsel Football Sr.
Jaxson Dorsel kicked the game winning field goal from 34 yards with 1 second left on the clock to beat Turpin. Jaxson also kicked a 23 yard field goal and was 4 of 4 on extra points. Jaxson is also one of the top students in his class.
Bryce Korb Boys' Cross Country Jr.
Bryce finished 4th for the Highlanders at the Sunset Invite with a new personal best time of 18:10. Now a junior, Bryce has some very lofty goals this season and looks to be a guy that his team will be able to rely on to give his full effort and lead by example.
Cannon Chirumbolo McKee Boys' Soccer Sr.
Cannon recorded his second shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw against LaSalle. He had a save on the initial penalty kick against Milford and has played fantastic in all three games. Cannon was voted Captain by his peers, and has a 4.51 GPA.
Lily Stewart Girls' Volleyball Jr.
Lily swung a .500 with 6 kills against Seton this week. Lily has been a leader for this team on and off the court, always cheering on her teammates. Lily is a 4.0 honor student.
Maeghan Zimmerly Girls' Cross Country Soph
Maeghan placed as the team's number two runner at Friday night's Buckeye Running Sunset Invitational, setting a new personal best with a time of 20:11—27 seconds faster than her previous record. Maeghan is an incredible teammate, known for her hard work and dedication. In addition to her accomplishments in running, she also plays on the JV A soccer team.
