Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Joe Helmes Baseball Sr
Joe Helmes is a multi-sport athlete, baseball and cross country. He had 4 hits, a batting average of .333, and led our team in hitting this week. Joe also had a stolen base and scored 3 runs. He had hit to break up a no hitter in the bottom of the 7th inning in our game against Harrison. Joe excels in the classroom with a 3.91 GPA in AP and honors classes. He is a member of NHS, an accomplished Eagle Scout, and a strong leader and teammate.
Trenton Murphy Baseball Sr
Trenton Murphy is a multi-sport athlete, baseball and basketball. He earned his 4th win of the season pitching a complete game with no earned runs and 5 strikeouts against Princeton. This is Trenton's 4th complete game of the season. Overall, Trenton is 3rd in the GMC with 4 wins. Trenton has 48 strikeouts this season and an ERA of 1.56. He is a strong student athlete and will graduate with highest honors.
John Fisher Boys' Lacrosse Jr
John has put together 3 good games in a row. Scoring his first Varsity goal as a close defender 3 games ago and stepping up as a leader both on and off the field last week. He is currently 8th in the GMC in caused turnovers with 19 and also has 29 ground balls on the year.
Addy Schirmer Girls' Lacrosse Jr
Addy is a huge asset on our team, continuously coming up with ground balls and big defensive stops. She also had a great goal over the weekend in our Tri-Match. She is encouraging to her teammates and does a great job in school, with a 3.85 GPA. Addy is already working hard to become a nurse, as she completed a Medical Program during the season while also working through AP courses.
Emma Herzog Girls' Track Jr
Emma jumped a lifetime best of 16-4.5 in long jump to earn second place at the Ross Invitational. Emma also ran on the 5th place 4x200 and 2nd place 4x100 relays.
Amon'tae Johnson Boys' Track Sr
Amon'tae ran 3 lifetime bests in the 100, 200 and 400 at the Ross invitational. He finished 7th, 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Will Broughton Boys' VB Jr
Will had 17 kills with only 4 errors against Middletown Christian.
Brennan Werner Boys' VB Sr
Brennan had 11 digs on his senior night against Middletown Christian.
