Highlander GMC Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Fernando Impuesto Colas Boys' Tennis Jr.
Fernando played in his first conference match against Hamilton and earned a big win to help secure Varsity's first conference win of the season. He also has earned a 4.0 GPA.
Ryan Spreen Boys' Volleyball Soph
Ryan filled in at setter for the Highlanders, and performed at an exceptional level, with over 65 assists across a 3 game stretch, in addition to double digit kills and digs against some formidable competition!
Anna Price Girls' Track Jr.
Anna trained incredibly hard during indoor track season and the training is already paying off. She has run a personal best time in the 1600 meters and is one second away from a personal best time in the 800 meters. Not only is Anna a hard working athlete, but she is also an incredible student with a 4.0 GPA.
Matthew Bertram Boys' Track Jr.
Matthew has been having an outstanding year. He spent a lot of time outside of practice the past 6 months attending pole vaulting clinics. His improvements in the event since last season have been amazing. Matthew has jumped 12 feet so far, which is 4 feet ahead of where he was last year.
Logan Peterson Boys' Lacrosse Soph
Logan has been a great help to our offense this season. Last week he helped us in our 12-3 win against Fairfield and had 2 goals and 2 assists in our 9-8 loss against Lakota West.
Alysse Niewoehner Girls' Lacrosse Jr
Alysse is a multi-sport athlete and an amazing leader on our team. She has helped lead our team through some tough competition, and she is always a positive athlete on and off the field. Alysse played an outstanding game on Saturday, with the most ground balls in the game. She is a very hard worker in school as well, as she is 15th in her class with a 4.0 GPA.
Aiden Thomas Baseball Sr
Aiden Thomas pitched a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over Lakota West. He struck out 10 batters and only gave up one hit in the game in the last inning. Aiden has pitched 17 innings this season with 22 strikeouts. He is a standout pitcher and disciplined student-athlete with a strong work ethic.
Brandon Stidham Baseball Sr
Brandon Stidham went 2 for 3 in the 2-0 win over Lakota West. He doubled in the 5th inning with 2 RBIs, securing the 2-0 win over Lakota West. Brandon is currently ranked 2nd in the GMC for hitting with a .429 batting average and 1st for RBIs with 12. He is a team player and stand-out hitter with 5 doubles this season.
