Posted on: March 29, 2024 11:00 am
Congratulations to the Highlanders who were named GMC Athletes of the Week!
Adrianna Gilkey Girls' Softball Sr.
Adrianna Gilkey (AD) moved to Oak Hills this season from North Carolina. She’s jumped right in and made herself part of the family. Her hard work this off-season has shown early on in scrimmages and now in the first two games of the season. AD starts the season hitting .500 with 3rbi, and a double while collecting 6 hits. AD plays first base and is one of the 4 senior leaders for the Highlanders this season.
Brayden Holland Boys' Track Sr.
Brayden had a memorable start to his senior track and field season. He is a decorated competitor already, but his performances on Saturday at Harrison show what a dominant racer he is. Athletes are limited to a total of 4 events in a single meet. Brayden competed in the 4x800 relay, 400m, 200m and 4x400 relay. He won all four events. This is a truly difficult feat to pull off!
Mady Linenkugel Girls' Track Soph
Mady competed in her first track meet on Saturday at Harrison. The coaches weren't sure what to expect from her, but it became clear that she will be one of the top sprinters on the team. Mady placed 2nd in the 100m and 1st in the 200m! There were more than 60 athletes in each event. She also stepped up and filled a spot on the 4x4 relay team, running one of the fastest times among Oak Hills athletes.
Peyton Steinriede Girls' Lacrosse Sr.
Peyton played phenomenal this past week in our season openers. Against Little Miami she had 14 saves in goal! She is one of our team captains this year, and her leadership is crucial to our team's success. Peyton is also an outstanding student, with a 3.3 GPA. We are looking forward to seeing Peyton perform the rest of the season!
Trenton Murphy Baseball Sr.
Trenton pitched a complete game, shut out in a 1-0 win against LaSalle High School with 11 strikeouts. He is a multi-sport athlete, 3 years varsity baseball and basketball. He is a member of FCA, NHS, Spanish NHS, and Scot Squad. He has a 3.95 GPA in honors and CCP classes and will graduate with highest honors. Trenton is committed to play baseball at Purdue, Fort Wayne next fall.
Madison Coster Girls' Lacrosse Sr.
Madison is a team captain this year. With a 4.0 GPA, she is not only a hard worker on the field, but in the classroom as well. Madison had an excellent first two games! Against Mercy McAuley, Madison had 11 draw controls, 8 goals, and an assist. We are so excited to see her continue to grow this season!
