Colonels spread holiday cheer to retirees
The C.O. Harrison singers in fourth and fifth grade traveled to the Western Hills Retirement Village yesterday to share the spirit of the season with the residents. They gave three large performances and walked throughout the hallways carolling to residents who could not leave their rooms.
They even ran into former Oak Hills teachers, including one from C.O. Harrison, many grandparents of the Colonel students, and a very happy group of staff and residents.
"This was such a wonderful opportunity for community outreach and being good ambassadors for the school and district," band and music teacher Alan Greeb shared.
"Students shared stories of the residents wanting them to come hold a hand or stand near them, as they were deeply affected by the presence of song and children," music teacher Janell Roeper added.
