Katrina RRMS studentOn October 14 and 15, 2016 Katrina Demerle (A 6th grader at RRMS) represented Oak Hills High School at the 2016 Montgomery Bell Rifle Classic in Nashville, TN. The MBA Rifle Classic is the largest high school sponsored air rifle event in the United States. Katrina competed against 56 high schools with a total of 231 high school participants in two classes (Sporter and Precision). Katrina was the youngest shooter participating in the event.

In the Precision 3-Position event (Prone, Standing and Kneeling), Katrina placed 21st of 72 Precision shooters with a score of 579.3. The highest score in the Standing event was a 607.7.

On October 16, 2016, Katrina competed as an individual in the monthly Buckeye Junior Rifle League at the Ohio State University. In this Smallbore rifle event, Katrina placed 5th overall out of 22 shooters (up to 20 years old). She finished 1st in her class (J3 – 14 years old and younger) and 1st overall in the Prone position. Katrina  was the youngest shooter participating in this event, too.
