Three-time Cincinnati Reds batboy, Teddy Kremer, visited Oakdale Elementary School today to talk to the entire student body about GRIT, perseverance and never giving up. He told the students about all of the sports he played growing up when he was their age including soccer, baseball, football, swimming and horseback riding. He talked about being the prom king runner up at Colerain High School, but winning the most team spirit award! He shared the story of learning to ballroom dance and winning three local competitions with different dances including the waltz.
Teddy explained the importance of setting goals and working to achieve them. He discussed his experiences learning computer skills and riding the Cincinnati Metro by himself. He explained how achieving your goals is possible with hard work and dedication. He practiced today’s speech 15 times to get it right, and practically had it memorized!
Teddy is proud of the important goals he has achieved and shared photos with the students of the book he wrote, Stealing First, getting a job in the Fifth Third Bank mailroom (he sorts 17,000 pieces of mail!) and in guest relations for the Cincinnati Reds, and his favorite….becoming the Cincinnati Reds’ good luck charm!
Oakdale students cheered him on, shook his hand, asked for autographs, gave him hugs and high fives before he left! What a great day at Oakdale! Thanks, Teddy.
