The district partnered with Delhi and Green Township Police Departments to bring this training to all elementary school buildings in order to keep the school district a safe place to learn and grow.
The training refers to steps that staff and students can remember in order to stay safe in the event of an active shooter or intruder in the building.
Students and staff throughout the district were involved in filming the training video, with help from the school resource officers from the Delhi and Green Township Police force. Resource officers speak about ways to stay safe, then staff and student’s sing a song reworded to the popular song, “Happy”, with help from the UnCommon Time Singers from Oak Hills High School.
This video will be played for the staff and student body at all elementary schools to train them on ways to respond to this type of situation.

“I appreciate the time and resources the district invested in making this video a reality,” Jim Howarth, Delhi Township Police Chief said. “Both local law enforcement and the Oak Hills Local School District are committed to keeping our children safe in schools. We must recondition students and staff to realize evacuation is an option. This training video and additional training will provide the viewer options if they find themselves in a tragic situation.”
“The production of this video once again displays the commitment of Oak Hills to keeping our schools as safe as possible,” Bart West, Green Township Police Chief said. “Since the video is less than 10 minutes long, students can easily be reminded of what they need to consider in the case of an emergency.”
