This program is offered to students in grade 4 and 5. Students who participate in music education frequently do better than their peers on many measures of academic achievement such as grade-point averages and standardized tests like the SAT or ACT. Details are given to interested students at the beginning of the school year as well as all students at the end of third grade.
This exciting program is offered to students in 5th Grade only. Students who participate in music education frequently do better than their peers on many measures of academic achievement such as grade-point averages and standardized tests like the SAT or ACT. Students meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:10-8:40 in the music room. We have four concerts per year, including the Holiday Concert, Fine Arts Night, Oak Hills Band Fest, and the Spring Concert. The general music teacher gives students more details at the beginning of the school year.
5th grade ART CLUB meets after school twice a month to experiment with various media and art making techniques. Recent activities have included designing posters for school assemblies, 3-D sculptures, wheel-thrown pottery, 2-D clay relief sculptures and digital image alteration. The program is open to any 5th grader.
Intramural activities are open to all 4th and 5th grade students. The activities vary from year to year but past intramurals have included mat ball, dodge ball, basketball, and flag football. Intramurals take place after school from 3:20 to 4:00. The actual dates are set after it is determined how many students have agreed to participate.
Walking club is open to all 3rd grade students. Students, along with Mr. Winkle, walk around the neighborhood on Tuesday and Thursdays mornings in the spring!
Delshire Singers is comprised of 4th and 5th grade students and regularly sign up in September. Rehearsals are after school on Tuesdays. We have several performances through-out the year, including the Holiday Concert, Fine Arts Night, and the Spring Concert.
