Oak Hills School District and NavTRACS third workshop on College and Career Readiness will be on Thursday November 1st, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the LGI Room at Rapid Run Middle School. All students in grades 5-12 and their parents are encouraged to attend. Monya Wyatt, NavTRACS consultant will discuss the college admission process from the parent’s perspective. Her presentation will focus on three key questions: When to start the college admission process? Where to start? How to have a successful senior year? NavTRACS is a local organization whose goal is to help families provide solutions for college funding as well as prepare students for success in college and future careers.
Monya Wyatt, NavTRACS Consultant
Monya Wyatt has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing. She’s the mother of three daughters – two, currently in college. She has made it her personal goal to send her daughters to college with a clear plan for their futures. They are/will be equipped with the life skills necessary to manage both their educational and personal successes. This has been a relentless effort finding extracurricular activities, career interests, scholarships and mentors. Although arduous at times, Monya has learned the sacrifice of parenting and is now reaping the rewards as a result. Wishing she had someone “coach” her on the college process, Monya hopes she can share her experiences to make the journey a little easier for other parents and youth. She’s of the opinion that our future rides on the shoulders of today’s young people and it is our responsibility to adequately prepare them for what lies ahead.
