On Monday, September 17, C.O. Harrison Elementary School celebrated Constitution Day. Nearly 150 fourth and fifth grade students, who were dressed as George Washington, James Madison and Patriots, visited the classrooms of kindergarten through third grade students. These student leaders led the younger students in reciting the words to the Preamble of the Constitution which included hand motions. They also led in singing the song “We the People”. Fifth grade students Billy Butler and Ella Dastillung led morning announcements as part of the school-wide Constitution Day ceremony. Lunch was highlighted with a visit from James Madison (portrayed by Principal, Mr. Corey Kessler) and each student received a We the People bookmark to commemorate the day. Students had the opportunity to take part in a contest answering a question about the Constitution. Two winners were chosen; each receiving a book entitled Our Constitution Rocks.
